The mindfulness practice is woven in without making it known. She is gentle and watchful. Many people shy away from meditation, this is where Lorna can put students at ease. Please say hello, let me share my practice with you. Namaste.
The Practice
Press pause to begin, just stop what you’re doing even for just a moment. If standing, stand tall and ground through your feet and find your center. If you’re seated, close your eyes and keep your spine long and take a deep breath. Be with yourself and savor the calm. You'll move inward, witnessing your true authentic self. Pausing and being still opens you up to experience the power of now, and your overall perception shifts. What is revealed through this pause is important, you are befriending yourself and it’s okay, to do nothing. By allowing yourself to stop, the practice of mindfulness begins. It’s very important to prepare the mind first before any kind of movement. This is critical, we want to keep the practice of yoga real and not push the body too much. The practice of yoga is the union of self or Atman. Atman in Hindu philosophy is the Sanskrit word that means, inner spirit or soul. Through this practice we weave together the mind, body and spirit as a whole. The earth is our foundation were we ground and take root. Our spirit and energy then takes flight. Through grounding and ultimately an ascendance of our very being, we experience liberation like never before. Some call it being biten by the yoga bug, once we taste the sweetness of pure liberation, there is no going back.Learning to let go is very important, trusting yourself and reminding yourself to be gentle only opens up the floodgate of pure energy and a new beginning.Maybe right now, you feel ill at ease, tense and unhappy in your world. I cannot make you any promises that by taking yoga or practicing with me, you'll find instant peace. I will say that through this practice, you'll get to know yourself a little better and strengthen from the inside out.Slowing down is the root of my work. Stopping and pausing as a means to move faster and more efficiently with gracefulness and fluidity. The more we slow down, the greater at ease we feel with our self and the world around us. Life has more meaning, purpose and joy. Would you join me, and let the healing begin.
INSPIRATION
I find inspiration in many things. From the Pacific ocean, to the smell of fragrant flowers. I adore morning time when the earth is just awaking up. The morning is quiet, fresh with the promise of new beginnings. Meditation in the morning is ideal. But if I cannot sit on my cushion or lay down, I’ll meditation as a move around my apartment. I focus on how my feet feel on the floor or the fluidity of my breathe. If it’s sunny in SF, I’ll meditate on the the sun.We are always meditating. Many people are fearful of mediation. For some, they cannot be still for others, they’re afraid of what they may find. Moving inward is revealing and maybe a little intimidating at first. But befriending yourself is critical for managing life’s ups and downs.Just think about being one with absolutely everything. Sounds odd, but I’d like for you to slow down and savor the moment. Be open to how everything feels, notice how wonderful you feel.

Working in the Tenderloin isn't always easy, people come from traumatic backgrounds and spaces.
